Why do I weave?
to cross bridges
to heal wounds
to connect souls
to create peacefulness
Hi! My name is Yelitza Barrios, but you can call me Yeli.
First and foremost, thank you for being here! Filamentos is the result of a lot of hard work but mostly, genuine love and incredible passion.
When I was young, my mom taught me how to weave. I always saw it as a hobby, something to do during my spare time. A few years ago, when I faced some really hard moments in my personal life. I unconsciously turned to weaving as a refuge. It helped me think and organize my ideas; it was only me, the silence and the movement of knitting. The process gave me peace, realizing I could spend hours at a time weaving, and in that moment, I felt I could truly connect to my deepest self. I found light in the knots and myself in every weave. Quickly realizing how passionate I felt about it and eventually decided to share that feeling with the world. That’s when Filamentos was born.
“My intention for Filamentos is to create art that carries my essence – passion, unconditional love, kindness, warmth, courage, freedom, abundance and light. Every piece aims not only to embellish a space, but also to inspire those who inhabit it.”
